Our Process: From Blank Screen to Belly Laughs
The creation of Hayala implied discarding the dull quiz app rulebook and coming up with an entirely new one in Arabic, full of laughter and unexpected twists. And this is the way we became curious about what if. A few seconds after the victory, “Oh wow!” Experiences.
Research & Discovery
We did all the quiz games in the world (literally, all the quiz games in the world) and asked questions to Arabic speakers as to what makes them laugh. Surprisingly, wit is easier to translate than jokes, which is good to know!
Game Design Workshop
Put our group in the room and gave us whiteboards and snacks and made us create a scoring system where creativity was better than memorization. In three days, we came out with the formula of Hayala.
Content Creation Sprint
Collaborated with Arabic comedy creators, teachers, and trivia lovers to design 1,000 questions that are either giggle-inducing or mind-blowing. Quality control was playing every question 10 or more times.
Rapid Prototyping
Constructed, checked, malfunctioned, repaired, again. Our beta testers turned into our most critical and most ardent fans, and it forced us to make every contact with them easier and more entertaining.
Polish & Perfection
Fine-tuned animations until they were perfect. Tuned sound effects until they were pleasant but not irritating. Ensured that all of the screen transitions were as smooth as butter.
Launch & Listen
Launched into the market, then stuck to the user comments. All ideas were taken into consideration. Every bug got squashed. Any good idea became part of the following update.
